Childhood obesity has tripled since the late 1970’s, according to the Federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, with more than 20 percent of American children ages 6-19, suffering from obesity. The World Health Organization recently reported that obesity is one of today’s most blatantly visible, yet most neglected, public health problems.

“Childhood obesity is a major health threat and we must find solutions, now!” says Health Pioneer, Dr. Patricia Bragg, CEO of Bragg Live Food Products.

In children and adults, obesity can lead to heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and many other life-threatening problems. Further, obese children are at increased risk of being bullied and suffering from depression, while a healthy diet and physical activity in childhood is associated with better mental health.

“We must focus on educating children and parents,” said Dr. Bragg.

Getting kids off to a healthy start and helping them maintain a healthy life, begins right at birth.

As fast as kids change and grow, it’s crucial to stay on top of their changing health care needs and make sure they receive proper nutrition and exercise. After all, today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders!

Similar to adults, most children in the U.S. are not eating enough nutritious foods or getting sufficient physical activity: family and environmental factors are key. At Bragg, our mission is simple – to inspire and educate people of all ages throughout the world to adopt a healthy lifestyle through optimal nutrition, exercise, positive attitudes, and spiritual wellness for a better tomorrow. We believe that you are what you eat, drink, breathe, think, say, and do!
